Mike Simm

Chairman

Mike has been chairman of Brightwater Group since 2005.

He is an experienced company director in private, public and listed companies in NZ and Australia, currently holding independent governance roles in Hawkins Construction, Top Energy, and Jasons Travel Media and a variety of smaller private companies.

Prior to embarking on a career as a professional director he held a variety of senior management positions in McConnell Dowell and Rheem in NZ and Australia, before buying leading NZ tourism attractions company Fullers Bay of Islands and successfully running that for 12 years. He is a qualified accountant and an Accredited Member of the NZ Institue of Directors. His special interests are in strategic planning, business turnarounds, and financial reporting.


Hugh Grey

Director

Hugh has over 35 years experience in the industry, commencing his career as an engineer. He returned to Nelson and purchased Brightwater Engineers in 1979.

Under Hugh’s direction and ownership the Brightwater Group has grown to a size where it employs upwards of 300 staff and operates throughout Australasia. He has always held the strong view that to be the leader in the industry, we need to be passionate about innovation and excellence, and maintain a real desire to deliver to our clients the best possible solution. With this culture Brightwater has constantly delivered new ideas and solutions to its affiliated industries.

Hugh has built a company with a strong culture of customer focus and has developed very good partnership relationships with key clients and partner organisations throughout the world.


Dave Faulkner

Director

Dave joined Brightwater as a Director in January 2010 following his retirement after nine years as Managing Director of Fulton Hogan Ltd.

During his 23 years with Fulton Hogan he was involved in the overall growth of the business including the entry into the Australian market and the development and sale of the waste business. He also was closely involved in many overseas projects undertaken in the Pacific Islands.

He has been a Director of Fulton Hogan and subsidiary companies for 18 years and is also a Director of Port Otago Ltd.


Doug Lowrey

Director

Doug joined the Brightwater board as a Director in April 2009.

He has over 30 years experience in the engineering and construction industry particularly in heavy civil, mechanical and electrical sectors in Australasia, North and South Pacific, South East Asia and the Middle East.

Experience covers both private and publically listed companies in Australia and New Zealand at CEO, Managing Director, and Chairman and Non Executive Director levels. He has also held major shareholdings in engineering and construction business in Australasia, South Pacific and South East Asia, and developed and managed an infrastructure business owning and operating gas and hydro power stations and electricity transmission systems.

Doug has had extensive experience at the corporate level of private and publically listed companies including stock exchange listings, acquisitions and sales of businesses and business assets.


Doug Troon

Director

Doug has been a Director of the Brightwater Group since 2005.

He has provided consulting services to a wide range of commercial and industrial clients, with a particular focus on the delivery of both capital projects and the associated operations and maintenance management of infrastructure in both the local government and the private sectors over his more than 35 years of consulting engineering experience throughout New Zealand and South East Asia.

Doug is also a Director of several other private and public companies including Top Energy Ltd, an Electricity Lines Company, contractor and geothermal power generator. He is also the Chairman of several companies established in Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia with 10 year BOOT contracts to deliver and operate Waste To Energy projects.

Doug is a qualified Civil Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand and an Affilliate of the Institute of Mediators and Arbitrators New Zealand.
