Completed Pellet Plant

Brightwater Engineering’s densified wood pellet plant for Plantation Energy Australia was a recent finalist in the ‘Innovation Award’ category at the 2011 Western Australian Engineering Excellence Awards.

Located in Albany, Western Australia, the wood pellet plant turns biomass recovered from sustainable forest operations into densified wood pellets. These pellets are typically used to supplement coal in boilers, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Brightwater Engineering provided the turnkey solution for the entire project.

The eventual winner of the Innovation Award was the Water Corporation and Wellington Dam Alliance for their AUD $40 million upgrade of Western Australia’s iconic Wellington Dam. Other nominees in the category included Worley Parsons, Sinclair Knight Merz, Western Power, Rio Tinto, GHD and AECOM.
