Supercritical Marine Lipid Extraction Plant

Client: Specialised Health Foods Production Company

Overview:

Brightwater have completed a new skid-mounted high pressure CO2 extraction plant for a specialist health food processing company. The plant is designed to extract marine lipids from dried powder though a super-critical CO2 pressure process. The extraction is a batch process taking place in either of two extractor units.  Product is introduced into the extractors which are then sealed.   The extraction process uses high pressure CO2, up to 300 bar (400 bar design), to remove oil from the product.  After a specific duration the CO2 containing oil flows through to either of two separators where the pressure is reduced and the oil drops out and is collected.
